Safe Space

What is a Safe Space?

According to GLSEN, a safe space is a welcoming, supportive, and safe environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) individuals. The Windsor Public Library has established itself as a safe space for any young people who identify as LGBT as well as QIA (Queer/Questioning, Intersex, Asexual). We proudly display the safe space symbol both on our website and in the library teen space, meaning we do not tolerate any bullying, name-calling, or harassment directed towards members of the LGBT community.  We have the right to ask those who are participating in anti-LGBT language or behavior to leave the library.
